The six stages

Most founders should stay in Lovable.

The usual reasons to leave are credits, wanting Claude Code or Codex, and bugs Lovable keeps looping on. Stage 2 answers all three without moving anything. Go further only when something in your business asks for it.

  1. 1Keep buildingYou are here when: nobody uses it yet.
  2. 2Bring in your agentYou are here when: credits hurt, or Lovable loops on a bug.
  3. 3Real people use itYou are here when: others sign up, store data or pay.
  4. 4Move the hostingYou are here when: you want previews, or your own account.
  5. 5Move the dataYou are here when: you need your own database.
  6. 6Someone else works on itYou are here when: a developer, client or buyer joins.

Stage 3 applies to every app with real users, wherever it is hosted. Stages 4 and 5 are optional, and you can stop at any stage for good. Stage 6 can happen at any point, including while Lovable hosts everything.

Not sure which one is yours?

The free check asks five questions and tells you which stage you are in and what the next step takes. It asks; it does not look at your app. About a minute, no email.
